    PROJECT DESCRIPTION

    Construction Engineering and Inspection for the 58 km portion of roadway widening and rehabilitation of RN1 from Saint Marc to Gonaives to ensure conformance with the MTPTC. The project areas include 3.8 kms from Frecineau to Saint Marc, 45 kms from Saint Marc to Savana Jonc, and 9 kms from Savane Jonc to Bigot.

    PROJECT DESCRIPTION

    Project bridge location is at Montrouis on RN1 along River Couline within a kilometer of the Gulf of Gonaives. The project consisted in the demolition of the existing bridge whose central pile was destabilized by Hurricans Hanna and Ike and the construction and installation of a UNIBRIDGE (Matiere, France). The newbridge is a 9.392m wide x 51.6m long steel bridge superstructure servicing two lanes of vehicular traffic and two sidewalks for pedestrian traffic (one for each traffic direction). The superstructure is composed of a steel box girder system consisting of three main girders framed together with steel diaphragms and a cast in place deck slab. There are a total of two simply supported spans (22.8m & 28.8m long) founded on concrete bents. The concrete end bents or abutments are founded on spread footings while the center three column concrete pier is supported on steel piling.
