FDOT District 7 is rebuilding and widening Interstate 275 from east of State Road 60 to the Hillsborough River in downtown Tampa. This project will reconstruct all of the southbound interstate in that area, as well as northbound I-275 from east of State Road 60 to Himes Avenue. When completed, there will be four through-lanes in each direction, a flatter roadway (i.e. removal of steep humps at bridges over crossroads) to improve sight distance and decrease the chances of accidents, improved interchanges to help move traffic on and off I-275, and a wide median to decrease cost and public impact when future improvements are built. Highway Safety Devices, Inc. (HSD) will be responsible for all of the ITS device installation and maintenance services. These ITS device installations include: arterial dynamic message signs (ADMS), mainline dynamic message signs (DMS), Highway advisory radio (HAR), HD IP CCTV, Microwave Vehicle Dynamic Sensors (MVDS) and wireless Ethernet transmission sites. Metric (as a sub consultant to HSD) will provide dressing and wiring of all LHUB cabinets. Metric is to configure, install, integrate and test all switches, routers, encoders and decoders in addition to all MVDS devices. Lastly, Metric will generate and submit for approval test plans, procedures and schedules and provide final Integration and Network Configuration Plans and Schedule.
