Typically, traditional CEI firms have a small number of inspection staff that hold Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Traffic Operations related certifications but seldom get consistent Traffic Operations/ITS inspection work since very few projects emphasize these elements.
This is where we differ. For over 20 years, Metric’s niche ITS CEI division, specifically falling under our ITS service line, has allowed our specialized Traffic Operations/ITS CEI management and inspection staff to focus on inspection services for ITS, Tolling, Lighting, Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS), Traffic Signals, and emerging technologies such as Connected Vehicles (CV) projects. We bring knowledge and familiarity of traditional CEI coupled with specialized expertise in Traffic Operations/ITS CEI procedures/policies which means we can address unique technical issues expected from these projects.
Our staff have the expertise to handle the inspection of any ITS/traffic related elements such as traffic signals, drilled shafts, ITS devices, fiber optics, electrical, minor roadway and more. They are managed and supported by expert ITS/Traffic Professional Engineers with the ability to provide constructability plans reviews and cost estimation from an engineering perspective to ensure ITS/traffic elements are up-to-standards. Our management staff also work tirelessly to ensure our personnel have the required FDOT, IMSA, or CTQP certifications, training, and qualifications to remain not only on the forefront of technology but the inspection and contract compliance of these tools – and we don’t stop there. We work with clients to ensure Departmental staff, in-house consultants, and contractors remain cognizant of evolving industry standards and proven practices in the form of ITS CEI-specific training.
